Baseline

In machine learning, a baseline model provides a baseline metric to be used as a reference point. It can be a straightforward rule-based approach, a basic statistical model, or a simple machine-learning model with minimal complexity. It often represents the minimum level of performance that can be achieved without advanced techniques.
