Enhanced CPRI (eCPRI) is an advanced version of CPRI that can support splitting baseband functions to optimize traffic on the fiber. It reduces the Transmission bandwidth usage for Massive MIMO, multi-antennas options, and BBU-AAU. In addition, the eCPRI, instead of using TDM, uses Ethernet to transmit data. eCPRI split point lies at the physical layer, and some processing units are located at AAU from BBU. It is also an open interface.
